The coat of arms of Sulmingen is divided into two parts. In the upper part there is a red and silver (white) nested sloping bar on a black background. In the lower part a black, eight-spoke plow wheel on a white background.

The bar is based on the Cistercian women from Heggbach and symbolizes the connections from Sulmingen to Heggbach and Salem . Sulmingen wanted an agricultural symbol like the plowwheel in his coat of arms to be a memory of the farmer's leader Ulrich Schmied . In terms of color, the coat of arms is based on the former local nobility. The coat of arms was awarded on October 16, 1957 by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior.

history

Sulmingen around 1900

When it was first mentioned in 1250, there was also evidence of a noble family: the Lords of Sulmingen. This lower nobility is mentioned until 1396. Before the abbey of the Heggbach monastery took possession of the entire village in 1277, the counts of Kirchdorf and Berg and the empire owned the land. In 1606 the Salem monastery received blood jurisdiction from the Landvogtei of Swabia. Through the secularization of 1803 Sulmingen went to the Counts of Plettenberg . It was judicially subordinate to the Patrimonial Vogteiamt in Mietingen , which however was dissolved in 1809. From 1810 to 1938 the village belonged to the Oberamt Wiblingen / Laupheim and then went to the Biberach district .

On January 1, 1975 Sulmingen was incorporated into Maselheim.

Events

  • The " Sulminger Village Festival " takes place in Sulmingen every year . It reproduces scenes from the beginning of the 16th century: Baltringer heaps with peasant uprising and revolutionary speech by Sulminger blacksmith Ulrich Schmied , threshing demonstrations and various handicraft demonstrations ( farrier , rope maker , Wagner, etc.). There are also musical band appearances. There are also special offers for children such as pony rides or Dürnach - Zügle.
