Austrian Aviation Museum
The Austrian Aviation Museum at Graz-Thalerhof Airport was founded in 1979 by Wilhelm König and Josef Gaisbacher and is operated by the private association Austrian Aviation Museum with the aim of collecting aircraft of all types and epochs - with special consideration of Austrian aviation - and presenting them to the public.
terrain
The museum is located in the south-east of Graz Airport and consists of the open-air area, a hangar and a small shop. The museum was originally located in the northern part of the airport in the area of what is now the northern apron. The second location was further south in the area of today's parking garage. In 1996 the hall collapsed under the load of snow, and several exhibits were damaged. In 1997 the new hangar was completed on the present site.
Exhibits
Starting with the first exhibit from 1981 , an Erwin Musger Mg 19A glider, the museum today has a wide variety of aircraft and exhibits, including two helicopters , thirteen jet planes and numerous propeller and glider planes . In addition to these aircraft, turbines , uniforms , ejection seats , a flight simulator , models, an apron bus , aircraft tugs and much more are on display. Some of the exhibits are under restoration. Not all exhibits are on display because there is not enough space in the hangar.
