The Úterský potok , popularly Uterák (German Neumarkter Bach , on the upper reaches Kapellenbach ) is a left tributary of the Mže / Mies in the Czech Republic .
course
The Úterský potok rises a good kilometer east of Nežichov on the state road I / 20 / E 49 between Toužim and Bezvěrov in the Tepler highlands . Its source is located at the eastern foot of the Třebouňský vrch ( Czebon , 825 m nm). On its upper course, which initially leads to the southwest, the brook flows through the basin between the Třebouňský vrch, the Branišovský vrch ( Branischauer Berg , 813 m nm) and the Sepuska ( Sebuska , 719 m nm), where it passes by the desert church of St. Blaise in the pond Blažejský rybník ( Blasius pond ) is jammed. Past Ostřetín and Branišov, the Úterský potok breaks through the highlands on the southern foothills of the Branišovský vrch and forms a deep notch valley west of the Sepuska . In a southerly direction, the stream flows past the Nový Dvůr monastery and the towns of Žernovník and Vidžín through an uninhabited valley to Úterý . The further course of the Úterský potok leads past Olešovice and Relíčkův Mlýn. To the east of Bezdružice , the stream reaches the Úterský potok nature park. Subsequently, the Úterský potok flows in an increasingly narrow and rocky notch valley to Potín, Starý Mlýn, the Falštejn castle, also Falkenštejn , the Ostrov castle stables, Hlaváčkův Mlýn, Pakoslav, Dlouhé Hradiště, the desolation of Dudákovský Mlýn and the Bezemín burial ground past Mydlovary. On its lower reaches to the southeast, the Úterský potok initially forms a notched valley with the castle ruins Sviňomazský hrádek and the towns of Sviňomazy, Horské Domky and Trpísty on its sides . The last section of the stream then leads between Čerňovice and Blahousty through a narrow rock valley, which is largely flooded by the Hracholusky reservoir . After 34.1 kilometers, the Úterský potok flows into the Mže east of Blahousty in the Hracholusky reservoir .
The valley of the Úterský potok is only sparsely populated, the only larger place directly on the stream is the town of Úterý. The lower course of the brook leads from Bezdružice mainly through the nature park Úterský potok. At the confluence of the ditch of the former Dudákovský Mlýn near Šipín, a rich ostrich fern population in the undergrowth of the alder forest has been protected as a natural monument "Pod Šipínem" since 1965 on an area of 0.17 hectares.
Below Hlaváčkův Mlýn, on the left side of the Úterský potok, there are light fortification lines of the Czechoslovak Wall .
history
The hydropower of the Úterský potok was previously used to operate numerous mills, most of which have now completely disappeared.
Between 1959 and 1964 the Hracholusky dam was built on the Mže, which flooded the lowest stream.
In 1997, the Úterský Potok Nature Park was proclaimed on an area of 1805 ha in the scenic surroundings of the lower brook valley .
