The ATE Ia were passenger train - tender locomotives of the kk priv. Aussig-Teplitzer Eisenbahn (ATE).

history

For operation on its newly built first line from Aussig to Teplitz , ATE ordered double-coupled locomotives from Borsig in Berlin for passenger train service . In addition to the train numbers 1-4, the locomotives were given the names TÜRMITZ (later KOMOTAU ), KARBITZ , SCHÖNFELD and MARIASCHEIN .

In 1870 the boiler of No. 4 MARIASCHEIN exploded and in 1879 No. 2 KARBITZ suffered a frame damage so that the two locomotives had to be scrapped.

After the nationalization of ATE (1924), the two remaining machines went to the Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD and were given the new series designation  220.1 . The two locomotives were not retired until 1933. At that time they were the oldest locomotives in the ČSD fleet.
