The Černá Nisa (German Black Neisse ) is a right tributary of the Lusatian Neisse in the Czech Republic .

The Černá Nisa rises on the Jizera Mountains ridge in the Rechstielloch at the northeastern foot of the Olivetská hora ( Mount of Olives , 886 m). To the north-west of the source rises the Poledník ( Mittagsberg , 864 m), to the northeast the Ptačí kupy ( Vogelkoppen , 1013 m) and east of the Holubník ( pigeon house , 1070 m). The Bílý Štolpich , Blatný potok and Jeřice streams have their origins in the vicinity .

The upper reaches of the Černá Nisa runs east of the Olivetská hora to the south. Then the brook takes on a south-westerly direction and is dammed at the eastern foot of the Brdo (876 m) and Milíř (836 m) in the Bedřichov dam. In Rudolfov, the Černá Nisa turns west between the Žulový vrch (743 m) and the Javorový vrch (724 m) and flows through Kateřinky on the northern outskirts of Liberec . The lower course runs in a south-westerly direction, past Nová Stráž and Staré Pavlovice, to Stráž nad Nisou , where the Black Neisse flows into the Lusatian Neisse after 14.2 kilometers at the foot of the Dolina ( Habendorfer Berg , 408 m) ; The Liberec – Zawidów railway line runs along this section to the right of the stream .

The Černá Nisa has several insignificant small tributaries.

Between 1902 and 1905, the Friedrichswald dam was built on the upper reaches of the Black Neisse as flood protection .

Below the dam is the Valhala pseudokarst cave on the left side of the Černá Nisa.

In Rudolfov, the Rudolfov hydropower plant is operated on the Schwarzen Neisse with a small reservoir, to which an underground canal leads from the dam.
