České Kopisty (German Bohemian copyist ) is a district of the city of Terezín in the Czech Republic . It has 512 inhabitants and belongs to the Okres Litoměřice .
geography
The place is one kilometer northeast of Terezín at 147 m above sea level. M. on the Elbe in the mouth of the Eger . The Old Eger runs to the west of the village and the Small Fortress to the south. Another neighboring town is Počaply in the east .
history
České Kopisty was first mentioned in a document in 1057, when Duke Spytihněv II gave the place to the collegiate chapter of St. Stephen in Leitmeritz . In 1403 the square village above the old Eger estuary was exchanged for the Doxan monastery .
Since the 18th century, the farming village has turned into a center of vegetable growing. With the construction of the fortress, the neighboring sister village of Deutsch Kopist was dissolved in 1781 and rebuilt elsewhere. The parish and until 1912 also the school was Potschapl . Since the beginning of the 20th century there was a landing stage for steamers of the Elbe shipping in the village, which, like the ferry to the ski jumps on the right bank of the Elbe, no longer exists since a dam was built. In 1830 the Böhmisch Kopist had 128 residents and in 1880 there were 236. In 1913 the village school was inaugurated. In 1924 the place got access to the road network with the road connection to Terezín. České Kopisty was badly damaged by the Elbe floods of 1845 , 1890 and 2002 . It has been part of Terezín since 1960. In 2001, 522 people lived in the 202 houses in the village.
