Đorđe Višacki

Đorđe Višacki or Djordje Visacki ( Serbian - Cyrillic Ђорђе Вишацки ; born February 4, 1975 in Belgrade ) is a former Serbian rower who was runner-up in the two-man championship in 1991 .

Athletic career

Višacki started in 1994, he started in two without a helmsman at the Nations Cup, the forerunner of the U23 World Championships , and took fourth place there; the following year he won the title in four with helmsman . In 1996 Višacki reached sixth place with the controlled foursome both at the Nations Cup and at the world championships in the adult class . In 1997 he was sixth in the Nations Cup without a helmsman, and at the 1997 World Championships he was eighth in a two with helmsman .

At the 1998 World Championships in Cologne Nikola Stojić and Đorđe Višacki competed in twos without a helmsman and won the bronze medal behind the German Detlef Kirchhoff and Robert Sens and the Australians Drew Ginn and Mike McKay . In 1999 Višacki did not appear internationally, in 2000 he rowed again with Nikola Stojić in two. The two won the Rowing World Cup in Munich, and they finished fifth at the Olympic Games in Sydney .

At the 2001 World Championships , the British James Cracknell and Matthew Pinsent won in two without a helmsman in front of Stojić and Višacki. A year later, the two Serbs finished fifth at the World Championships in Seville . In 2003 Višacki competed in a four without a helmsman , and the boat took 19th place at the 2003 World Championships . At the World Championships in 2004 in the non-Olympic boat classes, Višacki reached fourth place in a two-man with helmsman at the end of his career .

The 1.98 m tall Đorđe Višacki rowed for Partizan Belgrade . He studied at Berkeley and completed his Masters in Sports Management in Lyon in 2008 . Since 2009 he has been Secretary General of the Olympic Committee of Serbia .
