Łukasz Witek (born June 16, 1985 in Duszniki-Zdrój ) is a former Polish biathlete who competed for the KS AZS-AWF Katowice .

Career

Witek has been a member of the Polish national team since 2006. He has competed in his first international races since 2004 in the European Junior Cup. The first major event was the 2004 Junior World Championships in Haute-Maurienne , where Witek achieved a tenth place in the sprint as the best result. At the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2004 in Osrblie Witek started in the men and was in sprint, pursuit and mass start 27th, with Stanisław Kępka , Maciej Wojciechowski and Ryszard Szary in the relay race sixth. Witek has been competing in the performance area since the 2006/07 season . He competed in the first races since 2006 in the European Biathlon Cup . At the Winter Universiade 2007 in Turin , the Pole started in all five biathlon competitions. In individual and sprint he finished 16th, in the pursuit he was eleventh, in the mass start 22nd and with the relay of Poland he was on the side of Grzegorz Bodzianas , Krzysztof Uklejewiczs and Krzysztof Pływaczyks fourth. For the first time in the points in the IBU Cup (formerly European Cup) Witek ran 33rd in a pursuit race in Martell , the best result so far is a 22nd place in an individual in Osrblie in 2009. In 2006 he won at the Polish championships together with Uklejewicz, Bodziana and Michał Piecha for AZS AWF Katowice starting the championship in the relay competition. In 2009 he won the runner-up title with Tomasz Puda , Sebastian Witek and Grzegorz Bril .

In the 2010/11 season Witek did not get any more points, so that he did not take a place in the national team for the following season. His last international race was the Sprint World Cup in Ruhpolding , which he finished 85th.

Łukasz Witek lived in his hometown Duszniki-Zdrój during his active time and studied sport to become a teacher.
