ʼn

ʼn

The ʼn is an apostrophe followed by lowercase N . In Afrikaans this is the indefinite article and corresponds to the German "ein".

For reasons of compatibility with ISO / IEC 6937 , the character was also included in Unicode at code point U + 0149 , although the character is formally not a single letter, but consists of two characters and therefore does not actually qualify for Unicode. The Unicode Consortium strongly advises against its use ("character is deprecated and its use is strongly discouraged") . Since the combination is always lowercase, a capitalized variant is not included in Unicode.
