Šilopaj ( Serbian - Cyrillic Шилопај ) is a village in central Serbia .
geography
Šilopaj is located in the Opština Gornji Milanovac , in the Okrug Moravica in central central Serbia , in the historic Takovski kraj region .
The village is located in a valley in the lower part of the Rudnik Mountains .
Šilopaj is located about 10.5 km northeast of the municipal capital Gornji Milanovac and about 80 km south of the Serbian capital Belgrade .
Waters
Šilopaj is located on the banks of the Grnčarica River (also known as Šilopajska Reka), which rises below the Tripovac hill, flows through the center of the village from south to north and flows into the Cerovačka Reka River in the Šilopajsko Polje plain below the Ciganka hill.
In addition to many smaller springs around which the houses are grouped, the most important ones are: the Barjaktarica and the spring in the hamlet of Lipa.
hill
On the south and south-west side of the village runs the main Rudnik Mountains, which continue to the west. From this mountain range, namely over the hills Tripovac and Lipa, the hills descend with a slight slope near the hamlet of Grnčarica to Šilopajsko Polje.
The village houses are scattered on the sides of these two hills and on their slopes. On the north and north-east side of the village there are a number of smaller hills that close the Šilopajsko Polje towards the neighboring villages Davidovica and Cerova .
In the south of the village area there is a larger forest, mainly made of beech , called Šilopajska Šuma. In the past, the forest served the whole village as a common grazing area. There are also other smaller forests in the village area.
Silopajsko Polje
In the lower reaches and at the mouth of the Grnčarica, a round, fertile and flat field spreads out on all sides, which is bordered by smaller and larger ridges of hills. The hill Ciganka rises in the middle of the field plain.
Fields
A small part of the arable land is between the groups of houses, the much larger part of the fields is in the Šilopajsko Polje. The earth is fertile. The largest fields are located below the Lipa and Tripovac hills, where mainly oats are sown. Pears, raspberries and blackberries are also grown in the village.
population
Šilopaj is a scattered settlement and consists of three parts of the village (hamlets): Lipa (on the hill of the same name and its slopes), Sredina Sela and Grnčarica (on the sides and slopes of the Tripovac hill). The first hamlet is separated from the others by the Grnčarica, and the other two are separated by a small valley.
The place had 85 inhabitants at the 2011 census, compared to 135 inhabitants in 2002. The population of the village has been falling ever since the end of the Second World War . Serbs make up the population in Šilopaj .
