(1040) Klumpkea is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on January 20, 1925 by the Russian astronomer Beniamin Pavlovich Schechowski in Algiers .
The asteroid is named after the American astronomer Dorothea Klumpke-Roberts . She was the first woman at the Sorbonne the doctoral degrees awarded in mathematics.
