(1070) Tunica is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on September 1, 1926 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth , who worked at the observatory on the Königstuhl near Heidelberg .

The asteroid is named after the tunica genus from the carnation family.
