(13079) Toots is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 2 February 1992 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
The asteroid was named on December 2, 2009 after the Belgian musician and composer Toots Thielemans (1922-2016), who worked as a representative of modern jazz with greats such as Ella Fitzgerald , Quincy Jones , Paul Simon , Billy Joel and Jaco Pastorius .
