(1406) Komppa is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 13. September 1936 by the Finnish astronomer Yrjö Väisälä at Turku was discovered.

The name of the asteroid is reminiscent of Gustaf Komppa , then Chancellor of the University of Turku and one of the founders of the Turku Observatory .
