(1517) Beograd is an asteroid in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter . It was discovered on March 28, 1938 by the astronomer Milorad B. Protić and named by him after his native city of Belgrade . Its diameter is about 36 km. With the eccentricity value 0.042 it has a smaller eccentricity . The inclination of its orbit plane of about 5 ° to the reference plane is small for its size.
