(1595) thong is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 19 June 1930 by the South African astronomer Cyril V. Jackson and Harry Edwin Wood on Union Observatory ( IAU code 078) in Johannesburg was discovered.

The asteroid is named after the port city of Tanga in Tanzania .
