(18542) Broglio is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 29 December 1996 by the Italian astronomer Augusto Testa and Francesco Manca at the Osservatorio Astronomico Sormano ( IAU code 587) in Sormano was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the Italian aerospace engineer and dean of the faculty of aerospace engineering at the University of La Sapienza in Rome , Luigi Broglio named (1911-2001), who in the 1960s in cooperation with NASA on "San Marco project “Worked. The project had the construction of Italian satellites and a rocket launch site on a platform ( San Marco platform ) off the coast of Kenya.
