(185638) Erwinschwab is an asteroid of the inner main belt . It was discovered on March 1, 2008 by the team of the Observatorio Astronómico de La Sagra in Spain and initially had the provisional designation 2008 EU 7 .
(185638) Erwinschwab is a member of the Nysa family , a group of asteroids named after (44) Nysa . Alternatively, the group bears the name Hertha family after the M-asteroid (135) Hertha .
At the suggestion of the team of the Observatorio Astronómico de La Sagra , it was named in honor of the amateur astronomer Erwin Schwab (* 1964), who discovered various asteroids at the Hans-Ludwig-Neumann-Observatory and other observatories, including (204852) Frankfurt and (243440) Colonia .
