(19) Fortuna is an asteroid of the main asteroid belt discovered by John R. Hind on August 22, 1852 as the nineteenth asteroid.
The heavenly body was named after Fortuna , the Roman goddess of luck and fate.
Fortuna moves between 2.1 ( perihelion ) astronomical units to 2.8 astronomical units ( aphelion ) in 1394 days around the sun. The orbit is inclined 1.6 ° to the ecliptic , the orbit eccentricity is 0.16.
With a mean diameter of 200 km, Fortuna is one of the larger asteroids in the main belt. It has a dark surface. It rotates around its own axis in around 7 hours and 27 minutes.
