(1950) Wempe is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on March 23, 1942 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth at the Heidelberg-Königstuhl State Observatory at the University of Heidelberg .

The asteroid is named after the German astronomer Johann Wempe .
