(2013) Tucapel ( 1971 UH 4 , 1936 PL ; 1940 XC , 1942 EP 1 ; 1950 TP 2 , 1969 AT ; 1974 MM ; 1974 NA , 1974 OJ ) is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 22 October 1971 by Carlos Torres and J. Petit was discovered at the Cerro El Roble Observatory .

designation

The asteroid was named after the chief Tucapel in the Arauco War named, whose wife Gualeva was. Tucapel died in 1560 fighting the Spanish soldiers.
