(2018) Schuster is a main belt asteroid that was discovered on October 17, 1931 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth at the Heidelberg-Königstuhl State Observatory ( IAU code 024) near Heidelberg .
The asteroid was named after the German astronomer Hans-Emil Schuster (* 1934), who played a key role in setting up the La Silla and Paranal observatories .
