Bernd Neuendorf (* 1961 in Düren ) is a German political official ( SPD ), journalist and sports official. From October 2012 until the change of government in June 2017, he was the successor to Klaus Schäfer , State Secretary in the Ministry for Family, Children, Youth, Culture and Sport of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia .

On June 29, 2019, he was unanimously elected President at the Association Day of the Mittelrhein Football Association (FVM). He succeeds Alfred Vianden. His first term of office runs until the next association day in 2022. Neuendorf is a member of the DFB board and vice-president of the West German Football Association (WDFV).

Bernd Neuendorf has been a member of the board of the Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt Foundation (BKHS) in Hamburg since October 1, 2019 .

Life

Bernd Neuendorf grew up in the municipality of Hürtgenwald in the Düren district and studied modern history , political science and sociology in Bonn and Oxford after graduating from high school . After a traineeship at the Reuters news agency , he worked as an editor at Associated Press in Frankfurt am Main . Between 1992 and 1999 Neuendorf was parliamentary correspondent for various daily newspapers in Bonn. Then he moved to the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung in Halle (Saale). There he was deputy editor-in-chief from 2001 to 2003 . In 2003 Neuendorf became the spokesman for the SPD party executive in Berlin . This was followed in 2004 as press spokesman for the SPD state association in North Rhine-Westphalia . From 2007 to October 2012 he was state manager of the SPD in North Rhine-Westphalia .
