(21537) Fréchet is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 15 August 1998 by the American Italo- astronomer Paul G. Comba at Prescott Observatory ( IAU code in 684) Arizona was discovered.

(21537) Fréchet belongs to the Themis family, a group of asteroids named after (24) Themis .

The asteroid was named on May 9, 2001 after the French mathematician Maurice René Fréchet (1878–1973), who wrote fundamental works in functional analysis and used several mathematical terms such as the Fréchet derivative , the Fréchet space and the Fréchet- Distribution are named.
