(22401) Egisto is an asteroid of the main outer belt . It was discovered on February 24, 1995 by the Italian astronomer Maura Tombelli at the Cima Ekar observation station of the Osservatorio Astrofisico di Asiago ( IAU code 098) on the Asiago plateau northwest of Padua .
It was named on April 27, 2002 after Egisto Masotti (* 1944), the vice-president of the Gruppo Astrofili Montelupo .
