(22611) Galerkin is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 17 May 1998 by the American Italo- astronomer Paul G. Comba at Prescott Observatory ( IAU code in 684) Arizona was discovered.

The asteroid was named on August 4, 2001 after the Soviet engineer and mathematician Boris Grigorjewitsch Galjorkin (1871-1945), who introduced the Galerkin method named after him in 1915 for the approximate solution of partial differential equations .
