(22694) Tyndall is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 26 August 1998 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
The asteroid was named on June 1, 2007 after the British physicist John Tyndall (1820-1893), who researched the movement of glaciers and discovered the Tyndall effect named after him while studying light scattering .
