(2402) Satpaev is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on July 31, 1979 by the Russian astronomer Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).

The asteroid was named after the Soviet geologist Qanysch Sätbajew (1899–1964), who was one of the founders of Soviet and Kazakh geology and the founder of the Geological Institute of Kazakhstan.
