(2428) Kamenyar is an asteroid of the main belt with a mean diameter of about 23.5 km . At an average distance of 3,165 AU, it orbits the sun in about 5.6 years .
The asteroid belongs to the Veritas family , a group of asteroids named after (490) Veritas and probably formed when an asteroid with a diameter of 150 km broke up 8.3 (± 0.5) million years ago.
Discovery and naming
The celestial body was on 11 September 1977 by the Soviet astronomer N. S. Chernykh at the branch of the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj , Ukrainian SSR ( IAU code discovered 095) and received in honor of Ivan Franko , a Ukrainian writer, the name Kamenyar , a Nickname Frankos, which he got after one of his literary figures.
