(2566) Kirghizia is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on March 29, 1979 by the Russian astronomer Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory in Nauchnyj ( IAU code 095).
The asteroid was named after the Central Asian landlocked country of Kyrgyzstan , which formed the Kyrgyz SSR and declared its independence in August 1991.
