(2577) Litva is an asteroid that was discovered on March 12, 1975 by the Soviet astronomer Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095) in Ukraine . The asteroid was named after the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic , which today forms the independent state of Lithuania .
