(2598) Merlin is an asteroid of the main belt , which on September 7, 1980 by the US American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station ( IAU code 688) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County was discovered.
The asteroid was named after Merlin , the mythological wizard from the Arthurian legend .
