(28729) Moivre is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 11 April 2000 by the American Italo- astronomer Paul G. Comba at Prescott Observatory ( IAU code in 684) Arizona was discovered.

The asteroid is named after the French mathematician Abraham de Moivre (1667–1754), who dealt with the theory of probability and became known through the Moivre theorem formulated by him .
