(29249) Hiraizumi is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 26 September 1992 by Japanese amateur astronomers Tsutomu Seki from Geisei Observatory of ( IAU code 372) in the prefecture of Kōchi was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the city of Hiraizumi in the Japanese prefecture of Iwate , which had its heyday in the 12th century as the residence of the --shū - Fujiwara .
