(29250) Helmutmoritz is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 24, 1992 by the German astronomers Freimut Börngen and Lutz D. Schmadel at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg ( IAU code 033) in Thuringia .

The asteroid was named after the Austrian geodesist Helmut Moritz (* 1933), who, as professor of physical geodesy, is one of the most important representatives of this field.
