(29646) Polya is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 17 November 1998 by the American Italo- astronomer Paul G. Comba at Prescott Observatory ( IAU code in 684) Arizona was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the mathematician George Pólya (1887–1985), who was born in Austria-Hungary and who worked in particular in the areas of probability theory , combinatorics and number theory .
