(29647) Poncelet is an asteroid of the main belt , which from on 17 November 1998 Italian-American astronomer Paul G. Comba at the observatory Prescott ( IAU code 684) in Arizona was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the French mathematician , physicist and engineer Jean-Victor Poncelet (1788–1867), who was one of the founders of modern projective geometry .
