(30444) Shemp is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 5 July 2000 by the Australian amateur astronomer John Broughton on Reedy Creek Observatory ( IAU code 428) in Queensland was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the American entertainer Shemp Howard (1895-1955), who was at times a member of the comedian troupe The Three Stooges .
