(3053) Dresden is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on August 18, 1977 by the Russian astronomer Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).

It was named after the German city of Dresden .
