(30788) Angekauffmann is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on September 8, 1988 by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg ( IAU code 033) in Thuringia .

The asteroid was named after the Swiss - Austrian painter of classicism Angelika Kauffmann (1741–1807), who in 1768 was one of two women among the founding members of the Royal Academy .
