(3380) Awaji is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 15 March 1940 by the Hungarian astronomers György Kulin at Konkoly Observatory ( IAU code 053) in Budapest was discovered.
The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis.
(3380) Awaji was named after the island of Awaji at the suggestion of the Japanese astronomers Hideo Ōnishi and Shūichi Nakano .
