(3521) Comrie is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 26 June 1982 by the New Zealand astronomer Alan C. Gilmore and Pamela Margaret Kilmartin at Mt John University Observatory ( IAU code 474) near the Lake Tekapo on the Southern Island of New Zealand was discovered .
The asteroid was named after Leslie John Comrie (1893–1950), a New Zealand astronomer and pioneer in the field of calculating machines .
