(35365) Cooney is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 21 October 1997 by Czech astronomer Petr Pravec at the observatory Ondřejov ( IAU code 557) on the mountain Manda in Ondřejov was discovered.
The asteroid was named on April 7, 2005 after the American amateur astronomer Walter R. Cooney, Jr. (* 1962).
