(3941) Haydn is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on October 27, 1973 by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg ( IAU code 033) in Thuringia .

The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis.

The asteroid was named after the Austrian composer Franz Joseph Haydn (1732–1809), who was a leading exponent of the Viennese classical music and who composed the hymn in 1797, which served as the hymn of the Austrian emperors until the end of the Habsburg Monarchy in 1918 and which was created in 1841 Text of the song of the Germans today with the third stanza of which serves as the German national anthem .
