(39557) Gielgud is a Mars orbit-crossing asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on May 2, 1992 by Spacewatch at the Kitt Peak National Observatory.
The asteroid was named on November 9, 2006 after the British actor John Gielgud (1904-2000).
