(4193) Salanave is a main belt asteroid discovered on September 26, 1981 by Brian A. Skiff and Norman G. Thomas at the Anderson Mesa Station of the Lowell Observatory .

The asteroid was named on May 23, 2000 after the meteorologist Leon E. Salanave .
