(4478) Blanco is a asteroid of the main belt , which on 23 April 1984 by the Italian astronomer Walter Ferreri and Vincenzo Zappalà on La Silla Observatory of European Südsternwartes ( IAU code 809) in Chile was discovered.
The asteroid was named after Carlo Blanco , a professor of astronomy at the University of Catania .
