(4559) Strauss is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on January 11, 1989 by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen at the Thuringian state observatory in Tautenburg ( IAU code 033) in Thuringia .
The asteroid was named after the Austrian music director and composer Johann Strauss (1825–1899).
