(4577) Chikako is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 30 November 1988 by the Japanese astronomer Yoshio Kushida and Masaru Inoue on Yatsugatake South Base Observatory ( IAU code was discovered 896).

The asteroid was named after Chikako Mihashi (* 1950), who for many years was committed to promoting astronomical education in Japan. The Astro Village , which is connected to the Yatsugatake South Base Observatory and which has this goal especially for children, was particularly close to her heart.
