(4849) Ardenne is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on August 17, 1936 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth at the State Observatory in Heidelberg-Königstuhl ( IAU code 024).

It was named in honor of the German scientist and inventor Manfred von Ardenne (1907–1997).
